This resulted in the so-called lawsuit period. During this period, Ibanez produced guitars under the Mann name to avoid authorities in the United States and Canada. The company has produced its own guitar designs ever since. The late s and early s were an important period for the Ibanez brand. Most Ibanez guitars were made by the FujiGen guitar factory in Japan up until the mid- to late s, and from then on Ibanez guitars have also been made in other Asian countries such as Korea, China, and Indonesia.
Cimar and Starfield were guitar and bass brands owned by Hoshino Gakki. In the s, Hoshino Gakki and Kanda Shokai shared some guitar designs, and so some Ibanez and Greco guitars have the same features.

Most of us tend to think of guitars made in Japan as dating to the s, when Japanese manufacturers began supplying instruments to meet the seemingly inexhaustible demand created by teenaged babyboomers. But, in fact, Japan has a much longer relationship to the guitar and its ancestors, and in many ways guitars like the Kawai MoonSault were the culmination of that tradition. Indeed, lutes — the progenitor of the guitar — developed somewhere in south-central Asia about 4, years ago, traveling both southwesterly into Mesopotamia and eastward toward the Pacific.
By the second century A. Over time, Japan evolved both short- biwa and long-necked lutes shamisen , so stringed instruments were established when western guitars arrived.

I don’t honestly know how thats possible. I run an 06′ Les Paul Standard with BB Pros right into the amp GA5 also in the hi output jack, and I start to get that sweet sweet overdrive at about a third of the way up. The next third I like to really interact with the sound of the volume and tone knobs on my guitar for different levels of gain and tones. The GA-5 is a very vintage tuned type of amplifier.
The speaker really has to be broken in which mine finally is, and you really need to control the amp with your guitars controls.
But stick a buffered (Boss/Ibanez type) pedal in between the guitar and Ibanez/Maxon pedals are extremely discovered by vintage effect hunters making The fact that I did find one at a relatively dirt cheap changed this.
Unknown Place of Manufacture: The Tri stood for Triangle, as the V1 Big Muff had come to be known due to the triangular knob layout. Hohner had been around since , known as one of the worlds largest accordion and harmonica manufacturers. Hohner branched into making keyboards in the s, electric guitars in the s, and acoustic guitars in the s. As many other companies were doing at the time, Hohner also branched into the effect pedal business in the mid s.
These included the Sound Modifier Series, the Dirty Booster Overdrive, and the Tri Dirty Booster, which was essentially a straight clone of an early Big Muff with an extra capacitor in the tone section. The circuit was likely cloned from one example of a V1 Big Muff, though the particular circuit copied had a very good set of component values.
I have seen a few examples of these with slightly different capacitor values, but overall they seem to be identical. Most have a pF cap in the first stage, and pF caps the two gain stages. The extra cap in the tone section is a bit of a mystery. I assime it was added to alter the tone range on the bass side, but I cannot hear much of a difference with or without it. The manufacturer Hohner contracted to make these pedals in unknown, but it was made in the USA.
The enclosure is identical to the rare Rogue Fuzz, from around , so this appears to have been made by the same factory. Pot dates I have seen on the TDB are from and ‘

EHX Stereo Pulsar A tremolo pedal takes your guitar’s sound and modulates it, altering the volume of it between loud and soft over and over again. The effect can be very subtle to the point you barely notice it, or extreme to the point where the volume cuts in and out completely leading to a stutter – or staccato – effect.
Don’t confuse vibrato with tremolo. For instance, the “tremolo” arm on a guitar is actually misnamed; the effect it achieves is vibrato, which modulates the pitch of the sound higher and lower.
Analogue distortion pedals for a e between and one output jack. Has an input for connecting an external power supply in addition to the conventional 9-volt battery.
E-H talking pedal I just earlier this evening found out that what I thought was a talking pedal was actually called a Golden Throat. What does a talking pedal do, and how does it work? Is it the same thing as a Golden Throat? They are completely different. The golden throat is a “talk box” like Frampton, Walsh, etc used. It is a speaker driver connected to a tube which goes in your mouth and needs to be miked through a PA to be used.
Your mouth acts as a filter. The Talking pedal is like a big wah wah pedal, but instead of saying “WAH” it says “eee aaaa iiii oooo uuuu” when it is moved, the vowel sounds. It goes in the path between the guitar and amp, much more useable than a talk box. But the talk box can make more different sounds. In the Bad Stone I can’t switch back and forth from auto to manual.

Below is a guide to the basic effects gear needed to create a typical David Gilmour lead tones as heard on Pink Floyd studio and live recordings.

It is similar in name only. It is a digital effect, not an analog one. Not saying it’s bad, just letting you know it isn’t an analog effect, it just shares a similar product name. For analog looping, an old-style tape looper might be better, but is bulky and hard to maintain.

Jun 09, · For a couple of years now, I have been on a quest for a good analog delay unit for my growing analog synth collection. My search ended with the Electro-Harmonix Memory Man Deluxe (I decided to buy the new version vs. a used older one, but most say they sound identical or nearly-so).
Distortion , discussing what I believed were the fundamental differences between the two, but also pointing out that the end result — no matter the source — will be distortion. The only difference between the two being how the signal is clipped to create the distortion sound. Overdrive pedals normally produce a soft-clipping distortion, whereas distortion and fuzz pedals create a hard-clipping distortion.
As you can see from the diagram of the waveform above, soft clipping clips the peaks somewhat, while hard clipping pretty much lops of the peaks leaving a narrow dynamic range. This article describes clipping quite well. So what does this have to do with drive pedals?
